A low resource environment – part 2

27th September 2014 - By Dan Graham

Today, I was speaking to JJ from the Red Dolphin lifeguards. They are a team of 30 lifeguards who volunteer to guard the beaches of Gambia every day. They run on an annual budget of approximately £30 per year. Last year they had (for the first time) uniforms which were donated by a Dutch man – to buy one pair of shorts and one shirt for each guard would cost them around £200. Puts things into perspective.

Small amounts of money, spent in the right way, with the right technical support – can have a MASSIVE impact on a local organisation and their ability to keep people safe around water.
