In memory of Mosab Mohamed Ali : Former Director of Programmes
On the 20th January 2016, Mosab was tragically killed with two of his friends in a car accident.
His passion, commitment and enthusiasm is a continuing inspiration to us all, and the work of Nile Swimmers continues to honour his legacy. We will never forget him.
Mosab was a key member of the Nile Swimmers team since the very first project. Mosab studied IT, and worked as a Project Manager for Sadagaat – a Sudanese charity working in rural areas of Sudan to provide basic needs to the population.
In 2007, Mosab was the Camp Manager in charge of the logistics for the smooth running of the camp. Since then, Mosab took an increasingly important role in the management of the overall organisation. Enthusiastic about water safety, Mosab braved the cold of the UK to attend the 2013 RNLI Future Leaders programme as the representative from Sudan.
In his spare time, Mosab was a keen sailor, and regularly raced at the Blue Nile Sailing Club.
We will remember his legacy annually with a Mosab Memorial Award. This will be presented to the Sudanese volunteer (from any organisation) that has contributed the most to lifesaving and water safety in Sudan in the past year.
